Interviews
Interviews are required of selected applicants. If an applicant cannot make it to Oxford, then a phone interview or an interview with a faculty member outside Oxford will be arranged.
Essays
Examples of essay prompts previously used by Saïd:
For MBA Applicants: - Explain why you chose your current job. How do you hope to see your career developing over the next five years? How will an MBA assist you in the development of these ambitions? Maximum 1,000 words.
- Which recent development, world event or book has most influenced your thinking and why? Maximum 2,000 words.
For EMBA and MSc MPM Applicants: - Please outline your career objectives and explain how gaining this qualification would help you achieve them. Approximately 500 words
- If we asked your closest associates to describe you, what would they say? Which adjectives would they use and why? What would they say are your strengths and weaknesses? Approximately 500 words.
- Describe an aspect of your organisation which could be viewed as 'problematic'. Briefly outline three different action plans which could be implemented to deal with the issues involved, assessing the advantages and disadvantages of each. Maximum 2,000 words.
For MFE Applicants: - How do you hope to see your career developing over the next five years? How will the MSc in Financial Economics assist you in the development of these ambitions? Maximum 1,000 words
For MSc-MR Applicants: - A statement of purpose: you should give an account of your motivation for study at Oxford. You may wish to consider a number of issues: what relevant academic, research or practical experience do you have? Why are you applying to this particular programme of study? What areas of study in the subject interest you? Approximately 2,000 words.
- An essay of section of a longer piece of work on a topic appropriate to the degree for which you are applying. Approximately 2,000 words.
For DPhil Applicants: - An essay or section of a longer piece of work on a topic appropriate to the degree for which you are applying. Approximately 2,000 words.
- A research proposal: an outline of your research plans which should help us identify a potential supervisor. Please begin your research proposal with a clear title. Note: Maximum 2000 words.
Recommendations
Two recommendations are required, either professional or academic.
