To add to program’s international exposure and influence, Yale recently appointed Edward Snyder (Booth Business School at University of Chicago) as dean starting from 2011.
"As a small school in New Haven, it hasn't developed all the organizational capabilities that a world class business school demands," Mr. Barron says. "We would like to expand our global footprint and we need to be realistic about what that looks like. We can't be everywhere that Wharton and Harvard can be, but our strategy will be an important part of [Mr. Snyder's] upcoming tenure." Wall Street Journal
Fields of Expertise
Noted for its social consciousness and relevance to the current climate, the program offers students exposure to non-profit and public sector management in a number of electives and community outreach opportunities. To further encourage students to be proactive in the community Yale’s Internship Fund provides aid to students who commit to low-paying jobs in a non-profit or public sector.
Entrepreneurship
Yale challenges its students to utilize their entrepreneurial praxis and is a partner school in the Haas-led Global Social Venture Competition. Students may also take part in the Program on Social Enterprise which provides them with the guidance and resources necessary to make a positive social impact in the business world.
Interdisciplinary Approach
Recently Yale has eliminated its traditional core requirements such as Finance and Marketing and has replaced them with eight courses called “Organization Perspectives” where students explore the roles of everyone involved in the business world such as a stakeholder or an investor.
Mandatory Travel
To broaden student’s global business consciousness Yale mandates all first year students spend two weeks abroad.
