A quick look at who's accepted reveals that without a threshold GMAT score, usually in the low to mid-600s, you are probably not eligible for admission to a top school. If you GMAT scores reach that threshold, the rest of your application becomes more important than the difference between a 680 and a 740. So, it is important that it equals or surpasses the other parts of your application.
